People really go to bat for Dawn still but I think a lot of the human element is pretty damn dry and it bogs it down. When it’s just apes it’s on fire.

It wins out over Rise for the beautiful production design and not having James Franco in it

real talk if it wasnt james franco in that role i think rise would just barely inch above dawn, he's not a great pick in the first place and all of his gross irl behavior retroactively ruins his role

there are great ideas to dawn's human stuff but yeah it never quite cooks. you had gary oldman ffs

My most embarrassing admission:

While I would agree with its position on this list, I've also seen the Burton one an ungodly amount of times. That stinker got an INSANE amount of TV airtime on a bunch of channels I had growing up, such that now it's bizarrely nostalgic for me 🫠
