As someone who obsessively approached it this way for many years, as with everything, there’s a point where you can go too far. Like if you’re doing this for a specific person, then you’re not ‘being yourself’ anymore. Or if you’re a perfectionist, it will break you. So moderation is key.
That said, if this is a serious consideration either way, you’re either looking at things wrong, or are in a horrifically toxic situation. Overall, this is just bad advice. You’re worthy of love.
