I just let go an old “friend” who constantly posts the worst, most troubling stuff. I kept her around, I dunno, to test my empathy or something? Turns out, no, not worth it. Not a game that anybody wins. :(
I had a friend end things 10 weeks ago because of something like this where she didn't want to take accountability for things or even talk about things to work through issues and without that crucial step, bonds will always be strained
Yeah. I did what I could to admit fault on my end - but if someone doesn't want to listen, then they won't. At least until they do some self-care and repair too
I’m on that kick with my socials. I have people that I added over a decade ago - in the last few years, we have never interacted. WHY continue to share with people you don’t really know or you/they don’t really care? I’m down to less than 100 TRUE family/friends. It feels more personal/loving.

sometimes people aren't trying to steal our joy, but sustain it by telling us how we're compromising it with our own behavior
viewing that as "stealing your joy" can reflect more on you than them
It's almost like breaking down reality into these reduced, absolute rules is not only a useless exercise, but an outright harmful one
And the entire point of doing it at all is to keep us clinging to individual nonsense beliefs instead of seeing the big picture
"I may be wrong"
"I was wrong"
"That was my fault"
it literally doesn't have to be much more than literally just acknowledging reality for what it is
but people will self-destruct instead
