I actually think it's a good approach for all people of all ages. But it's especially effective for autism.
They can't always tell you what they want or need; it takes a lot of patience to learn to recognize each individual's language, whether it's words, gestures or other means of expression.
This is so good to know. Thank you! I watch a YouTube channel called Special Books by Special Kids, everyone should watch at least one of his videos, they're so heartwarming, but also instrumental in helping people connect with kids who are Special in their own way. I watch in honor of my late sister
we can flat out EXCEL if given the proper support, and that support often comes down to knowing when to step in and when to back off. like if you want me to crush a work project: 1) be direct about it, 2) give me clear guidelines/parameters, 3) give me space to do my thing, 4) enjoy the results

The trouble with autistic people IS NOT the autism. Itβs the intolerance & misunderstanding surrounding them. π€·ββοΈ
Try to see the world through their eyes.
Find what's important to them and join them in it. Let them teach you and guide you instead of you guiding them.
