As usual GNIswhole plan based on fairytale. I hope someone can do the sums on how many cows we would need to generate 50%of our gas from biomethane. Also the infrastructure needed wouldbe colossal. Hydrogen a gas that can leak through metal is not something that can be swapped in. GREENWASHING.

I don’t for a second underestimate the risk of a gas shortage. But claiming that the gas network will be fully operating on biomethane and hydrogen, and that we will need as much gas in the future as we do now, is misleading and self-serving.

It’s just bare faced lying. The future will be powered by RE as electrons down wires and stored in batteries or there will be no liveable future for humans. The gas networks must be decommissioned ASAP.

GNI does not have scenarios for future gas demand that align with our carbon budgets, and is often using its clout to advocate for more gas demand, instead of developing a plan to decommission the network.

If I was in GNI I would be concerned about legal action, given the requirement under the Climate Act for state bodies to do what they can to bring about the national climate objective.
