I have to start with #Georgia today. It's massively important to support democracy here, support the protesters. The 'government' is doing everything by #Russia's playbook, as seen in #Ukraine in 2013 and #Belarus in 2020.

Another 50 people were arrested by police in #Tbilisi - again they targeted leaders + journalists

During the mass sweep this morning Zurab Japaridze, of the "Coalition of Change" party, was reportedly detained, along with several journalists, one of whom was assaulted on camera.

Here is witness testimony in #Tbilisi, posted on Facebook, of a lawyer who says he's seen the victims and describes horrific beatings.

Nika Simonishvili's words cannot be verified, but certainly need thorough investigation including if the translation is correct, eye gouging.

What the Georgian text actually says is that the orbital bone around the eye socket was broken. That's correct, that happened. Many journalists have been attacked. A friend of a friend was beaten, which broke his vertebra. When protesters seized the TV station, he spoke from his hospital bed:

Georgia is under attack, as is Romania and the EU and even the US, witness Trump’s re-election. Putin won’t stop and yet the West dilly-dallies in Ukraine. Use Russian reserves to ramp up Ukraine aid or sign your own execution.
