I know pole is done recreationally for a lot of people now but it still makes me extremely uncomfortable when people put their bare ass feet on the pole wufjdisndjdje #nillayaps

WELL it depends, if you're doing competition pole they're usually barefoot, or if you just do it for fitness or fun some people opt not to wear heels because they struggle to in them I just feel like I see it way more often these days and it just feels wrong to me 😂 nothing wrong with it tho!
I always thought it's just people who don't dance at clubs & dance for fitness or fun instead 😂 can't say I've ever seen a club where they don't require heels but I could defs be wrong! For a lot of people heels adds another layer of difficulty but if you train out of heels some moves wont translate
To clarify: we could never agree on it as in I would get in trouble for doing it because I wasn't supposed to. I personally liked it, management did not.
Oh no absolutely. Part of it is an OCD thing, it's also why I dislike wearing gloves because I can't get a grip on things or have the same mobility. I'll wear them for an Angel cosplay though!
If you can't walk in platforms or bigger heels there are dance shoes and dance heels that have a smaller heel you can start out in for practice and while I don't have much pole practice one of my aunties was a stripper and my mom was a cocktail waitress and those dance heels were like, a staple
I ended up getting a pair myself when I was in a musical and then used them when I worked events. They have the same maneuverability as the bigger heels but not so high and pretty cute imo, v burlesque 😘 I don't have a problem walking in heels tho platforms my beloved so idk if that's
Im ngl being upside down at all still freaks me out and even back in the day it freaked me out HAHAHA its the one mental thing i still struggle with. Like I can technically do it but whether I want to do it is another question altogether 😂
Three year old Masha was running around the house in those plastic toy heels
Ten year old Masha was wearing 1-2inch heels to gym class
Teen/college Masha wore high heels to class
I mean it was a natural progression to 8inch pleasers honestly
Some people wear socks but id recommend just going barefoot esp when you're starting because you have more grip that way. You can wear heels but only if you feel competent/safe in them. Idk how most classes work but some use foot grip and others don't it really just depends
What was your experience level? Isabella is a beginner and I'm not sure how developed her upper body is. If you're doing foot grip I can see the rubber at the bottom being helpful but I really wouldn't recommend it for someone just starting out
I am 8 years into pole and was an instructor for 3 years. I’m not saying training in sneakers is an every day thing, just that it’s possible to do it. You won’t slip. Like if you want to have a costume with sneakers, you can.
Fair enough, I was speaking more for Isabella directly as she was DMing me about appropriate gear to bring to her first pole class and I would not recommend sneakers for her level but ofc you had no way of knowing that hahah
If you're beginner level I would defs recommend going barefoot, or even just in socks (socks can make it harder to climb if you're just starting out tho, but it defs depends on your strength level/what kind of climb you're doing/etc). Everywhere is different but a lot of places won't let you wear
I have a friend that while they were learning would use grippy socks lol I can't attest to how well it worked out, but seeing this post just reminded me of when they first told me that lol
I think grippy socks could probably be helpful especially if you're uncomfortable being barefoot or are afraid of slipping in normal socks. I still think barefoot is the best option because you get a lot of grip but you can also still slide pretty easily! And you have full foot flexibility and it's
just easier in general to not have anything between you and the pole. I learned in heels and it was easier for me because of the way a lot of moves are built around or to accommodate them, but I was already very competent in tall heels at that point so it might not work for others that way!
shoes on the floor unless they're heels or meant specifically for pole since you get on the floor a lot, but again I'd recommend going barefoot or in socks before going in a type of shoe that aren't heels because if you're doing (for example) certain moves the rubber at the bottom of the shoes will
make sliding in certain ways across the floor really difficult. Heels are surprisingly very maneuverable despite the grip pad because of how the platform and heel are shaped, but a flat bottom shoe is gonna make some things more challenging esp as a beginner. Being barefoot or in socks will
give you an easier time when doing transitions or floor moves that require sliding your feet across the ground. Sorry if this was not a great explanation I'm going on very little sleep widjsjsjdj

I’d imagine it helps with movement though, maybe? I know squat about pole dancing except it looks very difficult and physically demanding!
BUUUUT I always clean it!!
