Yes. When I tried to delete my account they made it very difficult. I couldn’t do it on my iPad or iPhone. I was finally able to do it on a desktop.🤷‍♂️

Ironically you can’t report it as a fake profile bc when you do, it asks who it’s pretending to be. Since you don’t have an account there it comes up as not found.

I reported it as scam/ fraud, and also as “something else.”

I urge any of your followers here who also have FB to do the same.

Since you have no account, they may feel they can't verify your identity and thus do not comply. I did submit a Support request today for you. If no results, perhaps you could setup an account just for the purpose of removing the impersonator. I do know they >>>

acted quickly in the past when it appeared I had an impersonator, which was not so, it was a technical error, so normally I think that kind of complaint would get prompt attention, as long as you had an account which you can then close. Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me!
I finally gave up....
they wanted me to send a copy of my ssn before they would let me in to close my inactive, catfished acct! That was 5 yrs ago. I created it in 2009 but never used it. Now I don't even think about it anymore just glad I didn't obey and send my ssn.

Perhaps the lesson is to not delete one's account (on FB, X, Insta, etc) but to simply let it remain dormant so that no one can swipe your handle and imitate you.

Fakers have done it to people still active. A reformulation of the name (Lawrence Tribe, isn't he that famous legal scholar? Nope), or slight misspelling is enough to steal a famous person's reputation for the faker's personal benefit.
