Let's start with the obvious on what brings us together.

A lot of Irish when they immigrated to the Americas in the 1700-1800s, were Catholic. A lot flocked to the same churches that Latinos visited or operated. Many opted to settle in Mexico just for religious similarities and values alone.

Also one of the biggest moments in history for Irish Immigrants when it came to Mexico, was many American Irish defecting to fight for Mexico during the Mexican-American war of 1846. Mostly of the US's anti Catholic stances and for it being seen as an unjust war. Look into the St Patrick's Battalion

Many also left the US to Mexico at the conclusion of the war, especially those that had been living in California prior. Seeking better life trying to escape persecution at the hands of Protestant Americans many fled the US.

It was also common for Catholic nations in Europe to raise military units of expatriated Irish during the 1700s because they had fled to Protestant countries due to persecution.

As far as modern history, since the opening of resident embassies in the 1990s between Mexico and Ireland, many bilateral agreements have been made regarding trade, immigration, tax evasion policing and drug trafficking policing
