i love it so much as an artistic choice, some of the food they do it with kinda make me wonder if it actually saved them time/money or they just wanted to do it that way
I'm sure some of it is just stylistic, but the first two seasons of HidaSketch have some of the best stylistic choices to save on animation time/costs that I've seen in general, to the point it was almost a bummer when they upped the production value post-Bakemonogatari.
yeah i'm 100% with you. between the pictures of real objects composited in, and the title card stuff, and the sometimes extremely abstract stuff (having like, labeled diagrams of characters' movements instead of drawing it out) it had such a distinctive style to it
