I will never understand the family that evacuates and doesn’t take the pets. My dog is part of my family and she is part of my emergency plan just like everyone else in the house.

Maybe they weren't home when this started and he used a pet door!? I bet they were as frantic to find him as he was to be found. I hate to leave my semi rural home, knowing if there is a fire i won't be allowed back in to rescue the dog, cat or horse.
