What's this?

Photo of a plane, rotated 90 degrees?

C17 globe master? Flown by both US and UK Air Forces. The engines forward of the wings look right, and the wing tip winglets are distinctive.

Flying slow and low over Essex.

Maybe it was going to land at Stansted.

UK ones are based at Brize Norton. Maybe Lakenheath?

C17. Presumably rotated, as whilst they have a famous amount of oomph, I doubt they can go vertical!

Yeah, bluesky has issues orientating photos...

I *think* rotation of photos often gets done at metadata level - if something ignores the metadata, down is going sideways!

Yeah, I'm assuming phone orientation is recorded when you take a photo with one so the metadata presumably has a field that can be tapped into .

Without any more context it looks a bit like a leaping salmon or a very angular shark.
