My DIL has for years been ignored re pain both by GP and male OB/Gyne, saw another gp (male) who pulled strings to get her into a female OB/Gyne. 'They found endo lining my pelvic walls and left hand side my bowel was riddled with scar tissue and totally adhered to pelvic wall which they fixed'.
My 4 month old son ended up in hospital with an anaphylactic reaction after weeks of my doctor fobbing off my concerns. I found him paralysed & blue in his crib. Twenty one years later I still cry if I talk about it.
🫂 how traumatic, sorry you had to experience this. Many of us have had that experience with kids, who we know intimately and instinctually are really ill.
Try clearing cookies and using incognito tab; if that doesn't work, copy the link and paste into https://webtopdf.com/ (I've used this to get around paywalls and it works a treat). Only drawback is you won't get the videos in the story.
We were told twice by two different (female) drs that my daughter was constipated after having severe abdominal pain. Six months later she ended up in emergency and had two 30/40cm ovarian cysts removed. I still feel guilty I didn’t push harder but you trust you’re getting proper care.
Can’t read the story but I’m currently trying to get taken seriously for pain and exhaustion. Exercise more. That’s what I would like to do, I’m not exercise shy, but it’s kind of hard when you are in pain and just completing every day tasks is exhausting. I’m managing walking & some stretches.
Yes, it took me many years and many doctors to get diagnosed with something (hEDS), but the distrust of doctors stays with you. I ended up getting recommendations for a rheum for my city online from other sufferers after all that 🙄
All we can do is keep plodding along. Even if I feel like I want to give up for a while, you have to keep on trying for any quality of life. Kitty cuddles help 😸 lol
My partner is blind now because doctors didn’t take her headaches seriously and she kept being told it was nothing (her optic nerve was bleeding from sudden increase of intracranial pressure).
A number of years ago I got a cyst, on my bum, it was from working to many hours driving a car. Eventually, it was debilitating - and a (bloke) doctor performed surgery in a GP clinic.
This went on for months. And eventually I convinced another doctor at the same clinic to send me for an ultrasound. And I had deep infected stitches, that had not dissolved. I was referred back to the same doctor to take them out who put them in.
