#OTD in 1991, the Iowa-class battleship USS Missouri bombarded Saddam Hussein's forces in Kuwait with high-explosive 16-inch projectiles chalked with messages of revenge for USS Tripoli and USS Princeton. The two ships had been damaged by Iraqi mines the previous week.
