You could use a program like Jdownloader2 to grab .opus audio files from YouTube (the highest quality encoding they offer), then tag 'em and stick 'em on your phone! And I strongly recommend GoneMad media player, which can play just about anything. It's a paid app but there's a trial version.

That said I highly recommend buying an old Android smart phone with jacks, BT, and SD slot if you want a dirt cheap mp3 player to sit in your vehicle or use as a Walkman

Just remember, they’re normally gonna be too old to use as a phone and the apps will be old as fuck

at that point you should probably grab an actual DAP, since they have actual DACs inside them to drive music, since most phones are designed to just play the bare minimum when it comes to sound.

5th gen iPod is probably my favorite for that. Sony and Pioneer have really good ones to.

(unfortunately) dead niche to, so they're pretty cheap devices on the second hand/refurbed market. Everyone just wants to play their stuff through their phone now, so no real demand for them anymore like back then.

iPods were more than I wanted to spend for one that had the amount of storage I wanted. And I had the phone lying around so yeah. Plus my trucks radio ain’t got a aux in just Bluetooth. I honestly need a better radio
