Continuing a š§µ of the books Iām reading in 2023: #17 is Jennifer Egan's "The Candy House." It's good, but does it reflect poorly on me that I liked "A Visit from the Goon Squad" more?

#18: "Two Nights in Lisbon," by Chris Pavone. I've become a big fan of this author, but his four other books are better than his newest (it's also a mild twist in genre for him). That said, it's still very good, in the vein of a "Gone Girl"- esque summer beach read.
#20: "The Family Jewels," by the wonderful Irish writer Caimh McDonnell. It's the 8th book in the Dublin trilogy (a slight renaming might be in order!)...and he's only becoming a stronger writer with each book.
