Some people have unrealistic expectations. I always said that only popular artists have a benefit of picking their platform. For smaller ones it's like starting their "artistic journey" from scratch. Nobody in their right mind would want to go back to obscurity if their life depends on exposure.

I know what you mean. I still only have less than a quarter of my followers here alone vs Twitter. Not even gonna get into engagement since this platform is still smaller.

Bluesky still doesn't have a lot of support and features that I want from smth like twitter.
No priv accounts, you have to use a 3rd party app for push notifications, etc
I know a lot of people who wont make the switch until those are in bluesky

People using Bluesky and trying to gain traction I think also need to unlearn bad habits Twitter reinforced:

Link your stuff. Don't say "Over on the pay site" Put a direct link to your patreon/subscribestar/itch.io whatever you want to boost.

Thats a huge benefit that most artists arent utilizing.

It feels like a good amount of traction on Twitter is artificial, like, I don't post anything here or there when I was still on there, but even then I had more 'followers' on Twitter.

While the owner is an as****e, people didn't understand the site well even before that change. Even with only following furries on BS, the Discovery tab for me has started to become as trash as For you on twitter. It is all about teaching the algorithm, regardless of service.

It's the same people expecting Tesla car owners to just take their car to the scrap yard and buy something else without any care on how stupid and financially crippling that would be. It also took until this point, not the last 2 years, for them to get outspoken about others still using it.
