I remember when "if you had my love" first debuted & was playing literally everywhere. I was so confused because it was so mediocre. They dubbed her part of the "Latin explosion" of music in the U.S. I thought maybe I just had bad taste but no, it's exactly as you said; she was an industry plant.
What's really messed up is that's not Jlo's voice. Natasha Ramos was a background singer on the track but they raised Natasha's voice 100% and lowered Jlo's voice to barely audible. Natasha sang the entire song and only made a few hundred bucks.
