I joined this website out of a hope of finding connection with other trans people, and in Talia's writing, and many others, I found that. I have found language to describe my experience, been given a model to understand how I move through the world, and felt less alone.

For a time it's been inspiring and hopeful. I don't actually know Talia, any of her friends and family, anyone on this site really. But even so, seeing that shared community and language and connection be *possible* for others made it feel possible for me, too, in some form.

So it's frustrating and enraging beyond belief to have such a direct demonstration how naive I was being to feel that way. To see with absolute clarity that if you are not the Right Sort of trans person, you are fair game for those who are.

And the correct way to respond to this childish, school-bully, cruel behaviour is apparently to sit and take it in silence. To be a willing receptacle for all the nastiness your Betters throw your way. I wonder if any feminist writers have talked about that particular use and abuse of women, hmm?

I dunno. I'm just upset and angry on behalf of the people who've suffered this abuse. And in my selfish way I'm mad that this has disrupted my illusions of possible community with other trans people.

The trick is to build community out of it, but never mistake a shared demographic for shared community in of itself. It's worth building.
