The joy of a half century as a customs broker. When I started it was CCRA (Canada Customs and Revenue Agency). Certainly x-rays happen, but with just the shear daily volume with over a million crossings a month. Marine cargo exam rates are about 1%. The cost to the importer $3 to 5000. comb CAD/USD.

From what I've read, almost all gun crime in Canada is from illegal US guns. While a small percentage are from legal Canadian guns stollen in home invasions. Legal gun owners in Canada very rarely commit gun crime.
