PP has a woman problem. I cannot believe that the majority of women would vote for a party hostile to women's rights. We need improvements to healthcare and education, not elimination of them. Conservatives will also cut OAS given the chance and all social programs that Canadians depend on.

That's what we've been doing in Victoria, Australia (not the Canadian one) for the past half-decade or so, and it's great. There's also free undergrad courses for sign language interpreters. (I've tried to enrol but the demand is huge so places fill very quickly.)

In 1975 I enrolled in a local community college as an automotive tech. Cost me nothing, just like high school. The place was filled with future machinists, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, bodywork specialists and nursing assistance techs. Most went on to contribute and thrive...bring that back!

Why not just fully fund trade schools?

Instead of giving grants to individuals, plus the administrative overhead of managing those grants- just send the $$ directly to trade schools & make them tuition free. For everyone. Without having a separate grant application.

This is huge for people who want to get into a trade. It's a huge cost that is unattainable for some, so they don't venture. I was more fortunate as the union paid cuz my marks qualified. This is exciting for all skilled trades apprentices.

My son went into an aprenticeship in a community college. The problem was to find private companies willing to take on these students for work training. He was lucky and was 1 of only 3 students accepted out of a class of 20. I hope they create liasions between the college courses and the companies.

These programs need to be paid for and not with austerity on the bottom 50%, but by taxing the wealthy and the corporations whose profits rise are directly tied to this new skilled labor. Canada's growth will be tied directly to post secondary education, and it should be free for all.
