if the RTX5090 leaks are accurate and its TDP is, indeed, 600W, then you would not be able to safely operate two 5090-equipped PCs on the same standard 15A/120V circuit in the US
this might be getting out of hand, folks

to be fair that hazard is already posed by e.g. space heaters, which is what these big GPUs are. but with AI!
Which is almost as dangerous.
All I have to do is make sure to fully roll out any extension leads I want to use near their capacity. You know, in case I want to run power out through a window to do some arc welding.
XD
mooooooooooooaaaaaar
it's not going to be extremely common, but it will come uo
also, how the hell are these things going to be cooled? I have 2x 360mm radiators and a boatload of fans for my 5950x+3080ti, which together are... about 600W TDP!
but truly absurd - I'd be questioning the capabilities of most 1000W PSUs under peak load too, there's more than just a GPU in there
LAN parties are going to come back
It's always slightly jarring when watching a movie and they put a kettle on a stove, and you have to work out "are they trying to signal that it's The Olden Days, or just America?"
But many refuse to believe. 🤣

crazy that computers used to be as huge as a fridges, nowadays gpus alone would consume the same amount of power
even a 20A circuit is going to be dubious in this scenario
If you're lucky one of them has a swimming pool they'll let you circulate.
And yes, there's already 2kW PSUs on the market. Lot of them came out during the stupid mining craze.

Told them to plug into the dryer socket if they had one, and hoped they'd burn their house down.
