I fear for collaborative, key ESA-Nasa missions like gravitational wave observatory LISA, from which Nasa already once walked away.

That's an important point. Trump's last pick, Brindenstine, was unqualified and a climate denier, but he accelerated the Artemis program. Bill Nelson did excellent work for NASA in Congress. Going forward, it's good to have someone with direct defense contracting and commercial space experience. Nelson was also a big supporter of commercial space bidding. Isaacman is a Musk ally which, though I don't like that, is the reality for now.

I get that reasoning and it's fair, especially in the current political climate, but for NASA and especially NOAA, big project management experience in sci+eng seem to me to make more sense. Commercial space is an important sector, I agree, even if Musk tends to suck all the air out of that room.
