At least people in the ground know what is happening. It was a nightmare in the ground at the Liverpool v Leicester game on Boxing Day. No idea what was going on and was having to send text messages to people watching on TV, to find out what happened.

Yeah, it’s defo a part of it. But if they must intervene, it’s good to explain WTF they are up to, as in that game in particular, it wasn’t even clear on tv when I watched it back, what the decisions had been made.

Apparently PGMOL wants more of the refs explaining decisions in stadium but IFAB are against it. No idea why they are, surely more transparency is good!

Because fans are not stupid. The ref blowing his whistle, doing the TV mime, and putting one arm up told us all the player is offside after VAR.

The issue is in the sometimes 4-5 minutes before that.

I think the announcement doesn't solve anything, you need to tell people DURING the check what is happening -- if you really have to change something (I prefer they just start using automated offsides)
