Oh we absolutely do Candlemas - Mexican family, super-catholic innit. That's a good shout actually, we always do tamales for it and have people over.

Ahh, did not know that. It's just a twitter thing for me from a few years back when keeping-greenery-till-Candlemas became the petrichor-style did you know fact for a week. But I enjoyed the year I actually did that.

We have a special bread for Epiphany that has a plastic baby Jesus in it, and whoever gets the baby has to host Candlemas and make tamales. It's a whole thing (that gets rigged in our house as we're the only ones in the family that make our own tamales).
