I mostly wrote this because...I absolutely love streaming. I loved being a professor, a teacher, and I love this *more.* But I know a lot of people who find this immiserating, and I think some of the differences between us are differences in practice. So, here's some best practices.

Staying active is so darned important. I have two older brothers who more or less stopped being active after high school and it's always a reality check to hear the litany of issues they had by the time they were my age.
Very glad to still enjoy "picking up heavy stuff and putting it back down"

This goes *extra* for people with health problems. I am not talking about training for the Olympics, I am talking about exercising to minimize pain and suffering. Not to meet some weird social standard, but to feel *better* tomorrow than you do today.

I have a theory, that creativity and good vibes come from a varied mental diet. If you go from streaming games to playing games to talking to gamers, you're starving. Books are the furthest thing from streaming, and so are the lowest effort, least complex way to vary your mental diet.

The point isn't that books are 'better' than other media, but that they use such different parts of your mind, come from such a different style of engagement. Read absolute garbage if that's what you're into, I read plenty of books that are utterly empty and asinine.

I used to think this distinction was pointless and pretentious, but now that I'm inside content creation, I think its quite important, not so much for trying to make my stuff sound better to others, but because its much easier to "make art" out of my soul than to "create content" for a platform.

Excellent read 🤌 Your outlook on streaming is so refreshing.

We see so many people being constantly on the verge of burnout in the vtuber community, especially those with large followings.
Meanwhile, smaller streamers are constantly demotivated by focusing on numbers. I'm certainly guilty of this.

I'm not immune to it! Reminding myself that the numbers are just business, they aren't *me* and they aren't *mine* is a conscious practice.

It actually makes it a bit easier to look at the numbers as tools rather than emotively, which is helpful.

I feel like a community built on authentic interest will always be more robust than one gathered purely on the current hot trend.

The algorithm only speaks in trends!
