It depends on the NDA, of course. It wasn't stipulated that the "key" employees were the ones told to zip it, but probably. I'm focused more on the mid-level folks, the ones who actually process/deny claims. I was a bookkeeper; I knew all the dark secrets. Shocking.

To be fair, this is fairly common. When I worked a center for a company who had some exploding batteries some year back, that was our MO too. Companies do not want everyone talking to the press, they want to control the message.

Not saying it's right, just it's common and not unexpected.
