I am very fortunate to have been contracted for the design of the OSP faction and most recently the carrier update.
Good work for a great team!
I really enjoyed it.
I may even have the intentions to make a mod 👀.
The wet dreams of military procurement and absolute nightmare of any maintenance crew: Multidomain vessels.
Capable to operate both in space as well as in atmosphere and excelling at none.
The Alliance Scout did not make the cut. (2/9)
I struggled a bit with the ideation stage, but once the most promising design was chosen, it underwent some really quick and unspectacular iterations, to arrive at this lovable chunker. (3/9)
what they lack in tech, they make up for in versatility and pure murder.
The look has some particular inspiration, however mostly I was looking for utility over beauty. However the Sturgeon Bomber is my favourite beast ❤️ (4/9)
Sturdy, reliable and cost efficient.
I used a silhouette approach to try and narrow down a desirable shape, and then to further refine it.

It had to be boxy, yet not boring. The last thing you want is for a center piece like a carrier ship, to not please the eye.
I believe we were able to divine a satisfiying shape in the end.

The logical design was for the Containerships to have boxy modules and that came together very quick.
For the smaller Carrier Hull, the brief was for it to have been a asteroid mining vessel, and I let the shapes and names go wild.
The best candidate prevailed.
