Define 'soon'? It could be weeks after his death for a new Pope to be elected. Given the state of politics in the Catholic Church just now, I'll be surprised if they elect one 'soon'.
Conclaves begin at least 15 days postmortem (up to 20 days), and can take weeks, even months to decide. If he dies, and that does seem likely, I hope they decide quickly, but, given the current politics of the world and the Church, I feel it may be a long Conclave.
'He's sitting up'. When I was a kid in hospital, an elderly lady on the ward desperately wanted to lie down. The staff explained that because she had breathing problems, she needed to be sitting up, otherwise she would get sicker. I suspect he's very poorly.
