Some apparently consider psychology a science. I guess Asimov was portraying it as a replacement for religion, prophecy, etc., which bemuses some demographics as well.

Yeah sure in the last vestiges of psychoanalysis being taken seriously, but also, they have a super gravimetric ship in edge and earth that just sort of defies all physics without much explanation…
I guess to his credit it does spend time on realistic human societies in their diaspora, even though they read a little like Star Trek original series encounters, but I agree, it was a lot of fun, just strikes me as sweeping space opera, not gritty hard scifi. Imagine Weir trying to write that~
