Very proud to be a priest ordained in this diocese, and proud of the stand this parish is taking to serve those most in need. And those most in need are not pickleball players, that's for sure.
At the public hearing, the neighbors complained that there would be homeless people in their neighborhood. One woman complained "what if my house burns down" because she saw unsheltered people smoking once. My reply would have been: "good news, there will be a shelter nearby."
Those neighbours clearly haven’t heard the noise of hitting a pickle ball back and forth. It’s very loud and annoying - something those die hard players don’t seem to notice . I’m married to one of them
Doubt it. It's a lot of fun. And great for tennis players like me whose joints have worn thin. But we can find places to play and build homeless shelters, too.
