Twilight of the Gods on Netflix appears to be a visually well-constructed animation, but there is a distinct lack of exposition. You are expected to know Norse mythos to know the characters name-dropped but also recognize the adaptations at play (for example, Hœnir).

I don't particularly know how else to describe it, but Zack Snyder has a habit of visually stunning, yet narratively shallow creations.
A prime example is Kora "convincing" General Titus to join them.
Nemesis was an excuse to go to a stunning, dystopian sci-fi Hong Kong/Nar Shaddaa rip-off and show off the character.
