Why would you take your actual device with you to a protest at all? Even shut off, it’s still sending and receiving Bluetooth, GPS, and other data, and many large LEOs use “sniffers” and fake cell “towers” to identify, precisely locate, and (possibly) install spyware on devices within range

They can sniff your Bluetooth and match the Mac id. They will identify people through cell tower dumps and geo fencing with Google or the phone carriers. The geo fencing warrants are the killer of you have your device

Make sure if you have an iPhone and turn on theft protection as well. The iphones cannot be imaged unless the theft protection is off. They can use the more advanced software but that process takes hours.
