Generally, if it’s part of the campaign setting. F’rex we once played a D&D game where the PCs were teachers at a magic academy. Or any game that’s set in a specific location like a city. Oh, and do spaceships count (e.g. Millennium Falcon)?

Dandy always had a home. However, she got cursed at some point (and didn't know it) and was unable to see/find home even though she remembered everything about it, so her reason for travelling was her trying to figure out what happened.
All my World of Darkness characters had homes too.
