My guess would be winter escape so Galveston, Corpus Christie, or S. Padre. I lived in Houston growing up so some days we would ditch HS on Friday and go to Galveston for the weekend. Late 70s when you could get cheap rooms for $39/nt. lol.

As someone raised in Texas I’ll say that the state in general is a tourist destination. At least those in charge frame it that way. From Austin to San Antonio to Dallas to the “diverse” natural landscape. It still has a foot in cowboy/Old West history. Too bad a lot of their thinking still is too.
