First season, yes. Not flawless but gorgeous and does some stuff well.
Recommend taking a beat before looking at the second. This was apparently planned as a 5 season show and it’s been compacted down to 2. What we’ve seen of season 2 suffers a lot as a result.
No, you'll mostly have mean things to say about it afterwards that people won't want to hear. The problems with origin stories/prequels, but even more so.
I thought it was only OK, the plot and character arcs felt a bit rote, but it is visually impressive and it seemed to really connect with people, so it'd be interesting to see your take.
I haven't watched it yet myself? But my brother, who literally did not know what LoL was until he watched it, absolutely loved it, and he is NOT an easy guy to impress.
I saw the first 2 episodes when it first came out. While I was impressed with the quality of the writing and characterization, the themes were a bit heavier than what I needed from media at the time, so I didn’t continue. But i think I’ll have to give it a try again given all the praise going around
The animation is stunning. Storywise, the first season has a lot of wheel spinning while leaving stuff unclear (I don't know the game lore). Still, I'd say it's a yes.
This weekend I saw FANTASIA in 35MM and then watched ARCANE all afternoon. The latter is ... not significantly less of an achievement in animated storytelling.
At the very least, ARCANE is on par with the remarkable SPIDER-VERSE movies.
Yes - I would sign up for your Patreon to get your take. I'm enjoying it, but its narrative approach pushes a lot of creative boundaries around "show don't tell", and I can't decide if it's genius, rushed, or I'm just stupid for not keeping up.
I think there's enough narrative meat on the bone there for an active brain to chew on and, even if you decide the story isn't for you, the journey is very fun thanks to it doing its best Baz Luhrmann fever dream audiovisual storytelling.

Highly recommend!
