I have seen the Netflix miniseries and the cartoon; I just bought the book a few weeks ago. I have never read it. I am aware of its themes, but I’m looking forward to it.
You will love it. I read it when I was 15, and it stuck w/ me my entire life (despite the author’s claim it’s not a political allegory). I’ve seen the original cartoon version from like the 70’s, but I didn’t know Netflix had a miniseries!
