Been reading The Fade Out (finally) over the past few days. Abotu halfway through and really enjoying it. Brubaker has a great knack at making protagonists flawed and weak in a very human way that never makes us hate them. Seeing early Phillips art does take some getting used to, though. - ThreadSky

To me, this is their most underrated and honestly my 2nd favorite Brubaker/Phillips joint. I rarely ever see people talk about it compared to their other works.

It feels like the opposite of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, in a good way because I didn't like that movie lol Instead of glamorizing old hollywood it's faithfully and justly critical. Having a great time so far!

Hell yeah, I’m open to pretty much every genre, I more go for specific creators. Kinda basic but my two favorite writers are Hickman and Morrison, I really love long-running, thematically rich stories that keep me thinking the whole time

Phillips art is never bad, not at all, but there's definitely a gap between the early issues of The Fade Out which came out in 2014 and even Kill or Be Killed which started in 2017. Always a fun time, it's exciting watching his style really take root.

The pacing is what I remember as the best part of the book. It’s a long story, but it doesn’t FEEL like that. Every bit feels like the most important but that doesn’t take away from anything
