Im gonna ask something really quick, and I'm not trying to mock you or make fun of you, it's a legitimate question with a legitimate answer. Did your parents or caregivers ever beat you as a child?

so I understand why you wouldn't have this kind of perspective, so I wanna take what you just said and come to it from a different viewpoint. You were assaulted during your most formative years and then were told that it was justified because you did something wrong.
I wanna emphasize this because you being hit wasn't necessary in that scenario. You could've been punished a different way, you could've been taught the details of what you did wrong a different way, you could've have this explained to you in a different way. Physical violence wasnt necessary
I know that you see this as normal parenting without any active issues, and I totally understand that with common cultural touchstones and all that. Still, I am deeply sorry that you were given that kind of punishment, especially at such a young age. You didn't deserve that.
Then everyone that was physically punished would be like me.
Everyone from my generation was physically punished, more so.
But they were the ones acting like they wanted peace, and me the only weirded out by it.
I'm not pretentious enough to assume I was more enlightened than every other kid.
To put it another way, it is not justified in the law for criminals to be assaulted in the course of their punishments. Adult criminals. The bar for your treatment while you were a child was lower than adult criminals.

It's insufficient.
