yeah like for the period I was playing Honkai I was going "okay maybe all the striking VAs can potentially long term Hoyo into following demands"... & then those VA recasts hit outside of Honkai & I went "NOPE FUCK THIS" & stopped playing until I see Hoyo get their shit together.

i think know which games you’re talking about, and there are many players current and former supporting the VAs. we’re being silenced by the very toxic vocal minority. :’) like it’s legitimately scary, say something and you run the risk of getting dogpiled, doxxed, etc.

I have been trying to push back against a lot of this. When the VAs are the target of that mob, then there is not much they can do in order to sway the opinion of it. But when fans begin speaking out against the dogpiling, it provides room for more to speak out as well.

Usually once a few people are willing to take up that burden and put themselves in the crossfire, others feel safe enough to speak out as well. By knowing that they are not alone, it is easier for people to speak out.

It's always wild to me how different fandoms react so differently to controversy. Sometimes the actors are fully supported and other times everyone seems eager to backstab them, and I don't know what dictates what the results will be.

When VAs working on Hoyo projects striking first started getting attention there was significantly more (almost universal) support. Fans started learning more about the situation which lead to questions motives and SAG, and it's been downhill from there. Some VAs didn't like being questioned.

I agree. Some of that happened right out of the gate, but most of that behavior seemed to happen after questions about the strike and SAG led to a lot of misunderstandings and misinformation. There are valid things to be concerned about, but mistreatment of VAs isn't the solution.

If you're talking about the sequel trilogy, I would say "woke" wasn't the issue. Shit story overall and some specific issues like what they did with Luke and how things played out with Rey and Kylo certainly were bigger issues than any woke-ness IMHO.

If you're talking about TV shows, I haven't seen Mando S3 or Asoka, but all the rest were pretty good. The ending of Acolyte kinda sucked, but otherwise it was a good show.

I know. I've seen a few comments here and there, mainly complaining about how many of the shows have female leads, but far more complaints about bad story telling. Honestly I haven't seen bad acting in any of the shows except one character in Obi-wan, so complaints about female leads are childish.

It's also funny to hear complaints about female leads from people who loved the Alien franchise. Ellen Ripley is a fucking badass, and nobody called those movies woke.
