all the "black friday" streaming deals making the ad supported tiers incredibly cheap really proves none of those companies have any actual innovative business models when it comes time to achieve profitability, huh

I’d love to know the customer acquisition cost off those - there were points at my old job it was like $150+ to where it was a better activator to just outright fork over $70 on a first sale in hopes the lifetime value washed (which it would!)
When I was in my early twenties a capitalist tried to take me under his wing. One of the things he said that really stuck with me was, “in business, if you’re not growing then you’re shrinking. There’s no standings still.” I thought god, how stupid. They need to grow profits every quarter. Or die!
a lot of it right now is especially bad because most other ad dollars spent on anything other than specific YouTube placements or qualified influencer marketing are proven bad ROI, but streaming tv ads are “unproven” and new so bigs are throwing much higher than usual cash at it in hopes it works
