I don't mean this as a defense of the guy: I think Mr Beast gets a lot of hate for doing stuff rich people do all the time but the rest of us just assumed wasn't allowed

So that is a lot cheaper than I figured and now I am looking at my tax return and preparing a pitch for my wife. π ethically I do not think world heritage sites should exist for private rentals, but then my inner child really wants to do this.
Be it Mr Beast or, say, any Kardashian, flashy spending draws people's ire in a way the boring asset management by the ghouls who actively make our lives worse doesn't. And they're usually a lot richer, too!
Considering that source was written in 1999, I wonder how much the price has fluctuated due to inflation. Tho I kinda love this article now since it has introduced me to the phrase "pyramidiots." (1/2)
I still have no idea who this guy is & hopefully he will stay in his βrich guy doing rich guy shit not bothering anyone elseβ lane so I will never have to learn
I read "If you pay enough you'll be able to have it overnight" and my neurons mis-fired. I thought to myself "they'll deliver the pyramids? They'll just ship those bad boys anywhere?"
No joke, I got in trouble for taking out my phone inside the Great Pyramid. (Youβre supposed to check it since they donβt want you taking photos inside.)
It's like the Nestle quote where he reportedly says that "water isn't a human right", while he actually says "Wasting water isn't a human right", and was specifically talking about how rich people can water their lawns during a draught
Nestle still fucking sucks and have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands without being held responsible - but we don't need to misquote people to make them seem more evil. Looking at their history can do that (pushing infant formula where there aren't clean water - hello child mortality rates)
The impression Iβve got over the years is that the pyramids are much more of a tourist trap and much less sacred/mysterious than we have been lead to believe.
when it comes to big international tourist destinations especially in developing countries the social contract is usually 'fleece the foreigners for as many dollars as we can' and maybe 'a cheaper/free lane for the locals esp. outside peak season'
Iβm no pyramid expert and those numbers are obviously very old but seems like they were really undervaluing the pyramids back in the day. They better be getting way more out of Mr. Beast for them.
Vaguely remember seeing a video this year of a dude who was invited to a billionaires wedding and the billionaire rented out the pyramids for a few days to do it so this tracks
Iβm going to rent the pyramids so me and some friends can set up a really good hifi system and have the ultimate listening party under the desert moon.
The price in the screenshot, is from a google ai search result, which pulled the information from a 1999 Irish Times article. I would expect the prices are higher now but if they followed inflation, still less than what I would expect.
People in capitalism mad that everything has a price and nothing is sacred are an interesting phenomenon. Itβs the same with fines: punishable with a fine just means allowed for a price.
I think I'm genuinely more surprised by how much less it costs than I would have thought. I could imagine being mad that the government was leasing out cultural treasures so cheaply - and not for... "1 hour = one affordable home gets built" money.
Folks, relax. I was there in February. Thousands of people crawl over those pyramids every day and they're still holding up amazingly well. You can't imagine the scale of these things. Humans can barely scratch their surfaces.
They were built to last for millennia and look good to go several ...
The Sphinx, OTOH, needs all the care we can give them. (The Sphinx is a hermaphrodite, did you know that? One side of the face is male, the other female. Ancient Egyptians had no quarrel with variations on the binary sex model.) I would fight to keep rich people off the Sphinx.
So this was New Age groups doing rituals in 1999 for the coming....boy howdy DID THEY FUCK UP OR WHAT SOMEONE FORGOT A CHICKEN HEART AND OSIRIS IS PISSED
It would need to at least quintuple to feel appropriate. I'd heard they'd started limited tours to prevent carbon dioxide damage from people breathing on stuff. 100 pounds a head for 3 hours with the place is ridiculous.
every new "mr beast hunts the most dangerous game" video is met with much consternation and the underlying story is usually like wait it actually only costs a couple grand to hunt a guy for sport if you know where to look?
I know that I have had various reactions when I realize some specific thing was possible, I was just too poor or lacked the connections to know about it.
Actually the Disney cruise is, somehow, much more expensive. My family was considering doing it and the cost for a family of four was about $3,500-$4,000 for a 4 day cruise when we last looked, and thatβs without any of the extras like drink packages and excursions.
They do rent out the area in front of the pyramids for concerts and stuff but that person is at least half full of shit because the Egyptian pound conversion rate is wildly, wildly off. 3,000 Egyptian pounds is well under $100.

Not exactly Mr. Beast's fault, but the (pyramids) concept by itself is still pretty gross. (2/2)

Oh shit, that's what it's called

But dammit.
(and itβs true iirc)
Still doesn't stop the guy being an utter nob, mind.
