Antibiotics are a huge reason gov funding in med research=so important. It's not a big money maker, unlike something like Oxycontin.
People often don't realise that pharmaceutical Co's don't invest in research for antibiotics because it's not a big $ maker.
It's no coincidence that the profits of drug companies & their payouts to CEOs & investors have exploded since 1987.
Personally, I think that drug co's (with gov funding) should be forced to put a%of $ into research unprofitable meds
