#somethingfortheweekend - a very good value basic red for everyday drinking. Only £6.49 at Lidl. It is more structured than it should be at this price.

With this particular wine, of the £6.49, a whopping £3.75 is tax. £2.67 Duty, £1.08 v.a.t.
So in truth you're actually paying £2.74 before taxation.
And the duty goes up significantly again from February 1st.
Captive audience, decent wines, not gouging the punters imv.

I don't think it would qualify as Cairanne if 9%.
But you can't really reduce alcohol intentionally. Wine very different to beer. Fermentation is what it is and will determine what the alcohol is all on it's own.
Which is why no other country on the planet is using the same, disastrous system.
Still a lovely buy at that price thought. 🍷 Iechyd Dda.
But may I mention Aldi’s Grayson Lindon Dry Gin? Absolutely yum!
Great value at £6.50
Spicy, warm, drinkable. 🍷
Triumph. Disaster.
