I've taken the world view that if you're punching down you're [at best] an asshole.
I've also taken the attitude that if you're a colleague who punches down you will get no more out of me that is contractually required, which is difficult at times because I enjoy problem solving.

I've never struggled to understand why the mega rich punch down. I've always struggled to understand why the poorest punch down and sideways to protect the mega rich - they really believe that the rich need to be richer so that the trickle down effect improves their own lives.
