Although I know live here, the 85 Bears with the Fridge and Ditka and McMahon on Midnight Channel 4 sold me. I was playing club rugby in Sussex and NFL was a huge topic around the clubhouse. 2008-2024 Bears just so sad

Remember reading about him while nfl was starting to get big in the 80s. Seen Chicago and looked up the teams. Chicago bears.. cool. Went through the ecstasy of that superbowl win.... and suffered ever since 😂😂

Saw the first live UK TV superbowl, The Fridge fronting Chicago Bears v New England and was hooked. Was the same day I moved to London.
Then research, and of course the romantic underdog will always be the Packers.
And trust me, a game at Lambeau seals the deal!

UK Bills fan ( for about 20 years) I have friends who live in buff and I’ve been over many times great city and people. Be amazing to finally make it back to another Super Bowl and then hopefully win one though.

i love this thread because i've always wondered the same. guess i never realized so many nfl fans abroad existed. i can relate, however, as an american whose favorite sport is rugby. obviously we have rugby here, but truly not nearly the same as any pro league in europe or NZL.

First game I watched was the superbowl between Washington and the Dolphins. I decided I was supporting the Dolphins, they lost. Next season they drafted Dan Marino and I was hooked.

I would be surprised if it were any other way. I “support” the 49ers casually purely because they played and won the first game I ever watched. This was reinforced when I went to SF and liked it more than most US cities. My real football team play a 10 min walk from where I was born. V. different

My great great grandfather left the mines of south Wales to work in Pittsburgh. He was run over and killed by a tram or train in his first week. My grandmother was born half way across the Atlantic on the way back to Wales. Not much of a connection but it's why I follow the Steelers.
