Amen to that. National news on both sides serves up dribble to their 24/7 viewers in an effort to maintain viewership numbers and high salaries paid to anchors and pundits. Local news is better but there are news deserts now bc big media has gobbled up so much precious local resources.
He sees the “backlash” to climate policies as something that has organically emerged within the public rather than what it actually is: an orchestrated campaign by fossil fuel interests and ideologues to preserve the status quo
There are obviously major issues in relation to climate / energy policy, but it looks like he’s blindly swallowed a lot of the right’s narrative - and is cheerleading the fossil fuel industry’s favourite ‘solutions’ (e.g. carbon capture)
Net zero is impossible without carbon capture/offset. That underpins the 2050 targets set by the CCC. You have to look for it in their papers, but it's there and is a big part of how net zero works.
Truth is that CO2 capture not making progress so far, it may never work.
