I have a few questions for teachers that make use of tools like Quizizz for retrieval lesson starters:
1. How do you find it works with classroom management?
2. Do you integrate it with homework?
3. Do you go over any of the questions before transitioning to the lesson?

- Use classic quiz 99% of the time (helps with your point 3)
- Quiz code on board before class arrive.
- Meet class at door - clear routine of in & logged on in silence.
- First names only (remove any who don't, sanction & use random generator if repeated).
- Strike & shield, memes, reactions etc off (too distracting).
- Complete in silence ('if you tell others the answers, you're taking away their chances to think') - be seen looking during this phase.
- Finished? Study flashcards.
3 - Yes.
- Sort by accuracy.
- "I'm going to show you the Q's we struggled on the most & choose people to explain the answers"
- Broadcast least accurate to screens.
- Choose ss to explain the right answers.
- sometimes also "What would the q have to be if X was the right answer instead?"
I also, keep track of class 'high scores' and give house points for beating them, for excellent participation/effort and for explaining answers during round up.
