The friends that I had cosplayed with in the past I couldn't anymore. Some of them had just stopped cosplaying, some had gotten too busy, some moved on to selling at cons so couldn't anymore, and some I had falling-outs with.

So I was feeling mostly uninspired.

But then my friend @thelexaugust.bsky.social showed me this TV show and wanted to cosplay with me. So we took it to (and suffered) at the local renfaire.
I worried no one would recognize us, so I bought some little scarves for the people who did and told each of them they "wear fine things well"

And then we loved it so much we went to a fair again and started making some silly little videos, which got fairly popular to the point I actually got recognized at a Hozier concert fully out of cosplay, turns out the venn diagram of ofmd fans and Hozier fans is a circle

Hearing the show was cancelled was heart breaking. I worried that people would just completely stop recognizing my Stede cosplay, and hated the idea of having to retire it before it's time

So last March when CostumeCon came to town I knew I wanted to wear it again even though Lex couldn't go with me. At the very least these people would love it for the quality of costuming even if they didn't recognize the character...

Within seconds of arriving at CostumeCon I met @flockingcosplay.bsky.social who I think would have chased me down and tackled me to the ground to get a picture had they not actively been working at a booth at the time
