I’m very late to this, but it kind of blew my mind. I’m skeptical it really exists. Don’t 5’s “see” their dreams? When 5’s remember their childhood bedroom, don’t they conjure an image?

Me and 2 of my 3 kids are 1s. My husband and third kid are 5s. We've had some wild conversations about this and neither side has yet been able to entirely comprehend the other. (Unsurprisingly.) But we all have internal monologues, mostly very loud.

I don’t have an internal monologue. I have an internal argument. Whatever I do, there’s some other fucking dick in my head criticizing me for it, and I’m always defending myself or telling the jerk to get out.

Speaking as someone who's ~4.5, I do dream and remember, but no image recall. I have had a very few "snapshot" moments where an image has flashed in my mind, so I know it can. They're Incredibly rare and I remember all of them. I have Strong mental aural, tactile and olfactory representation.

I'm like a 2.5 on visual and my internal monologue mutters all the time. My inner voice also loves to sing the chorus of annoying songs at odd hours, like a little drunk hobo in my head.

D, you know I finally got tested a few years ago and have ADHD. I took adderall one day and my head was DEAD SILENT. It was creepy af.

Then I had to take a nap, which is a super normal reaction to amphetamines.
